What Are The Common Issues With The QR25DE Navara Engine?
The Navara QR25DE is known for a couple of common issues, usually related to maintenance. The Engines themselves when maintained correctly are considered quite reliable.
Oil Consumption. Occassionally some of these engines suffer from excessive oil consumption & even blow-by. This a result of premature wear & excessive ring end gap clearance. When rebuilding these engines we use a piston set made by TIK pistons which features coated skirts & crowns for temparature control & a revised piston ring pack with specific end gap clearances which are file fit to spec.
QR25DE Overheating. This is typically a result of poor maintenance resulting in failed radiator hoses or even cracked radiator fittings. Overheating in these causes issues quick resulting in a blown head gasket or worse, a cracked cylinder head! (In the event of cracked cylinder head, we keep replacement YN2S Cylinder Heads on the shelf ready to install.
It is strongly recommended to maintain these engines on time. Simple maintenance of things such as engine coolant & PCV hoses can save alot of money in costly & time consuming repairs.
It is also recommended to ensure the timing chain kit is replaced on time to avoid stretched chains or failed tensioners resulting in catastrophic failures.
All engines are carefully assembled by one technician from start to finish.
