What Are The Common Issues With The LVN Holden Colorado Engine?
These engines are known for excessive oil consumption. Holden attempted to rectify this issue by changing oil viscosity from 5w30 to 5w40 however this is simply a band-aid.
We rectify this issue when rebuilding these engines by using a TIK replacement piston that features a coated skirt & crown for temperature control along with a blueprinted piston ring end gap clearance more suited to the engine spec. This eliminates the oil consumption & blow-by.
We strongly recommend replacing the engine coolant & PCV hoses during regular maintenance along with cleaning out the EGR valve. These commonly wear prematurely resulting is blocked EGR or improper operation when the hoses crack while the coolant hoses can become brittle causing the inner sleeve to fail resulting in the hoses splitting or popping off.
We also supply the Plazmaman upgraded intercooler hoses for upgraded applications.
Another common fault with these vehicles is the OEM exhaust, the bracketry was poorly designed causing it to break. If left unattached the weight of the exhaust & DPF will result in breaking the dump pipe which can damage the turbo.
All engines are carefully assembled by one technician from start to finish.
