What Are The Common Issues With The WLAT Ranger Engine?
There are two common issues we come across on the WLAT Ranger Engine.
Oil Consumption. Occassionally some of these engines suffer from excessive oil consumption & even blow-by. This a result of premature wear & excessive ring end gap clearance. When rebuilding these engines we use a piston set made by TIK pistons which features coated skirts & crowns for temparature control & a revised piston ring pack with specific end gap clearances which are file fit to spec.
WLAT Overheating. This is typically a result of poor maintenance resulting in failed radiator hoses or even cracked radiator fittings. Overheating in these causes issues quick resulting in a blown head gasket or worse, a cracked cylinder head! (In the event of cracked cylinder head, we keep replacement WLAT Cylinder Heads on the shelf ready to install.
Regular maintenance is crucial & can save your thousands in repairs & also down time while your car is stuck in the workshop! We strongly recommend replacing all coolant & PCV hoses while maintaining / servicing at the correct intervals.
All engines are carefully assembled by one technician from start to finish.
